Does anyone have any information on the two programs or know someone who has gone through them? Are they good programs for pre med students? They are much more interesting than the regular biology or chemistry but I am curious as to how difficult they are. Thanks.
Daughter is in Immunology and Infectious Disease, she is not pre-med, but everyone in our group at orientation was! I think it’s a great major for pre-med, very timely with today’s medical needs and focus. Also much easier to get personalized attention and research opportunities since it is in the Agricultural College which is smaller. (Toxicology is also under Ag)
Daughter loves it, and advisors are helpful and easy to access.
And also, they are more interesting than a straight science major…and extremely challenging in the best of ways. I feel like the uniquness of the major may stand out on med school apps but that’s just my opinion, I am not an expert!
The new BSL-3 lab at PSU-UP was built specifically for Immunology research…it’s one of the newest and most exciting science majors being offered right now, and very few schools offer it. Also look into the BioBehavioral Health major, it has some nice buzz around it, too.
