Question: I’m an eighth grader who received the opportunity to take 3 high school credit classes this year. I can honestly say I am doing the poorest I’ve ever done, mostly due to my horrible grades on semester exams. I realize I have a LONG way to go, so should I even be worried about [...]

In your case, since your grades are the result of more challenging courses and not because of poor overall performance, I wouldn’t worry about it. I’m not aware of colleges seeing middle school grades, and even if they did, your explanation is the best available.

I took one high school class in eighth grade and it did not show up on my permanent transcript. Just ask the college counselor at the high school whether these grades will appear.

I took 3 high school classes and they are nOw still on my transcript- I am a junior. I would check with your guidance counselor, because it really depends on your school

I took 1 high school course in 7th grade and 3 in 8th grade. They are all included in my high school transcript. If you only improve from where you are now, you could still be a very likely candidate for an Ivy League school.

If you do really bad in these classes, you should be able to retake them in high school with the new grades appearing on your transcript. In the district my son attends, if a student receives a C or lower in a high school class taken in middle school, they retake the class in high school.
