Yep, so i'm planning to drop a Lower division science class in which I think I will be getting a C (in the best case) or lower. As a sophomore, I have a very comfortable GPA right now (3.9+) and a C or lower would cause my GPA to plummet. From the perspective of possibly applying to prestigious med schools in the future, is it wiser to drop this class in 9th week or stick with it and take the GPA hit? What i'm really trying to find out is how big of a factor (if there is a factor at all) dropping one class late is for med school admissions. And this is assuming that I retake the class next quarter and get a really good grade, which i'm positive i can do. I've already talked to my counselor about this, but I still need more input on this. Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this and I would be more than grateful for any input on my situation.

Drop it, but make sure you can explain it later if it comes up during interviews. Also make sure dropping doesn't become a habit.

Thanks for the advice! Does anybody else agree/disagree? I think I might drop this class sometime this week.

I took a W because I thought that it would hurt my GPA.

I really don't think it matters for med schools.

it probably doesnt mean much...its just that no one really has the balls to do it or they just dont care.

im sure if you have a good explanation (which apparently you dont, so that means make up one lol), it wont matter at all since there are tons of reasons to drop.

id advise you to drop if the max grade you can get is a C. If there's a chance for a B- or better, stick with it
