I’ve noticed that some nursing schools (at large public and private universities) like to brag about how much funding they get from the government to do fundamental research in the area of nursing science. I’m curious what your thoughts are about this. In general, does an institution’s focus on research make for a better classroom experience for BSN students? Or, does it make for less engaged, more distracted faculty members (because they are more interested in their research than they are in teaching)? Anyone have any insight into this?
I’d guess the benefits are mainly applicable to graduate students. You raise an interesting question about professors that are primarily interested in research vs. those that are primarily interested in teaching.
