<p>My son applied to Cal Poly SLO - wGPA 3.92; uwGPA 3.52; SAT 1360/2060. We live in Orange County, CA. His big EC is debating (lots of devotion & hours). Wants to major in business. Did not apply ED.</p>
<p>I realize these stats are decent for Cal Poly (but not a slam dunk). Can anyone explain what they mean by an impacted program? What is the radius used for where students live? I have a friend who has already heard from Cal Poly Pomona who has similar stats to my son.</p>
<p>From my understanding, an impacted program is when they have more applicants than seats available in the program. Therefore they have the ability to place more requirements on getting in such as higher test scores, higher gpa, residency status, etc. I'm not really sure about your other question.</p>
<p>All majors at SLO are impacted. As for Cal Poly Pomona, most of the departments (excluding architecture I believe) are accepting all students who have at least a 3.0 weighted GPA (or something like that). Like your friend, my friends and I received acceptance letters shortly after applying to Cal Poly Pomona.</p>
