Importance of ABET Accreditation for BME Degrees

Biomedical engineering is one of the majors that I am interested in pursuing in addition to chemistry public health. I want to attend UNC Chapel Hill, and it has an unaccredited BME program, so should I skip it and pursue chemistry or public health? I have read in some forums that ABET accreditation is not very important for finding jobs in BME, so is it alright to have a BSE from UNC Chapel Hill? Would most employers not care if the program was not accredited?

Actually, i believe accreditation is very important. I have seen on many job application requirements that the candidate must have a degree from an accredited school for that major. Do you know if your college’s bme program is working towards accreditation? My college was accredited when I was a sophomore so I got really lucky.

Finding a job as a BME without a graduate degree is tough accreditation or not.

@biomedeng2015‌ UNC-CH is working toward accreditation. They will file for the 2016 cycle.
