I know many have asked if an undergrad school really matters, but I want to specify my problem here. I am currently struggling in choosing whether to attend Fordham or St. Johns. Personally, I feel St. Johns is a better match for me. More diverse, cousin goes there, friends go there, and the overall atmosphere just feels nicer in my opinion. I have visited both schools and noticed that Fordham has more upper class kids whereas St Johns has a mixture of middle class, upper, and lower. Financially, I do not have to pay for St Johns as I got a scholarship. Fordham on the other hand, I will have to pay about 8k a year and without loans maybe even more. Fordham definitely has the upper hand in terms of academics. Class sizes are smaller, professors are better. However, I just feel like I will be a better fit in St. Johns as I am a commuter and am familiar with the area. My MAIN question is: Does Undergrad School really matter that much? Fordham vs. St Johns? Obviously Fordham is better academically but if I get like a 4.0 GPA in St. Johns and also participate in the internships, will the end result really matter? Can I still go to a good graduate school for business? So basically Gabelli vs Tobin, which is better? Does it make a significant difference? After all, graduate school is more important in finding a job. Please leave your thoughts. Thanks.

I answered your other thread but with the added info: commuting ect I think either is fine and less debt is always good from an undergrad standpt esp if you plan on going to grad school. You def have to work on maintaining high GPA and depending on your business major should be fine for grad school but you need to read thru business forums for discussions about MBA programs ( most say best programs require 2-5 years work experience, excellent GMAT’s ect) so post undergrad work opportunities are key. It really depends on your major acct vs finance ect. Personal fit is also important as an undergrad as you do want to have a positive well rounded 4 years if possible. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for the response. This is going to be a hard decision.

St. Johns University vs. Fordham. Kind of a no brainer decision to go to Fordham but St. John’s just seems more appealing to me. Plus I save more money for a good grad school in the future. Overall, St. Johns has more facilities and the sports teams are better. Fordham is more traditional but academics are top notch.

*Anyone go to St. John’s or know others that have gone to St. John’s for business and end up with a good job? (recognized firm, above avg. salary, etc.)
