Importance of Course rigor (stern)

I am currently a high school sophomore and am extremely interested in Stern. I don't really want to post all my stats up, but I have a question. How important is the course difficulty when choosing students to admit for stern? Freshman year, I had a 3.9 GPA unweighted with 1 honors class, and this year, I have a 3.6 GPA with Algebra 2 Honors and Bio honors. Next year, I will we taking pre-calc honors and Mandarin 3 honors. (I am NOT asking for a chance, so don't judge me based on my grades. I haven't posted SAT's or EC's up.) So, does stern particularly look hard at the rigor of the courses you take? Will it look bad if I am not taking all honors/AP classes?

you don’t need to take all AP classes. I had 2 junior year and 5 this year…but NYU didn’t even see the 3 I had in the fall semester in senior year (they don’t require a mid-year report). I was able to get in RD no trouble.

I would recommend upping your honors and AP courseload (to maybe 4 or 5 combined honors and AP per year for the next two years), getting high SATs, and EXTRACURRICULARS…It sounds obvious, but I cannot tell you how nervous I was about the thought of my application being subpar for Stern RD before I got my acceptance

^^ I agree with the above poster. You should take AT LEAST 4-5 honors and AP courses, though you’d probably want to take more, especially for Stern. The average for Stern seems to be like 5 APs total plus a lot of honors.

With only a 3.6 in only 2 honors classes so far, you might not want to push yourself as far as to take that many honors/APs. It would seemingly kill your GPA to the point of no return. Your choice though as you know your capabilities the best!

It’s pretty early for you. you still have half of sophomore year and all of junior year to pull your gpa up. I just got into BPE today so I’m pretty excited. All the classes I took in high school were honors courses with a few APs tossed in starting junior year. Senior year, all AP courses. Definitely take them but be prepared to spend hte time and keep your grades up.
