I am going into my junior year of undergrad, I'm probably going to be declaring my major in Economics, haven't done it yet since I'm transferring from a community college. My gpa is currently at a 2.46 overall, but I hope that now since I'll be taking courses for my major, I could bring it up to between a 2.8-3.0 overall. I took science classes that were just not my friend and I started college half a year after a brain operation. If I could get myself some decent work experience after undergrad, would that make of for my low gpa? I don't expect to go to a top ranked school, I think that is a bit unrealistic considering my low performance early on during undergrad. Would lower ranked schools look at gpa increasing later on during undergrad or is it just overall no matter what at schools where overall gpa is really important?

In general, the longer you’ve been out of school when applying and the better your GMAT score, the less important your GPA becomes.

Some schools consider your CGPA; others will look only at the GPA earned in the last 2 years of study.
