Importance of IB/AP scores and 2nd sem senior grades

Hi all, I'm a rising freshman entering an ivy but considering applying to transfer to a similarly ranked school this year where my significant other is studying (and where, in any case, I feel I'd be a better fit and would have gone to had I not been rejected this year).

By how much would my transfer application be affected though with a drop in my 2nd sem grades (3.9 to 3.6) and lower than expected IB results (predicted 44, scored 39)? Or are you mostly starting with a blank slate in college, and mostly assessed on your first freshman semester? In other words, if applying to transfer to a hyper competitive school, could a good college semester completely make up for a poor high school one?

Would I even be required to send in my IB scores? Thank you.

bump, comments much appreciated!

As I often state, as a soph transfer, since you will only have completed 1 sem of college, your HS record and test scores will be weighted more heavily than what you have done in college. The fact that you were rejected before your lower 2nd semester grades and IB results were in does not bode well. A ‘good’ college semester is not likely to make up for this, particularly if the transfer rate is low. An ‘excellent’ college semester, convincing reason for transferring, and strong LORs might (not will, might).

IB scores are self report like APs.
