I see on college data that standardized tests are "considered." Does the SAT not matter as much? My CR+M SAT scores are in low 50% of SAT scores of admitted students. Could my SAT score possibly hinder acceptance??

It depends. SATs are usually used as indicators, just to see where you are in the main areas of study. That being said, UChicago is extremely competitive. Their SAT scores range from something like 1400 to 1600 (for the record, they don’t count the writing section). Now, UChicago is super committed to holistic admissions, which means they look at everything and they don’t give one thing more weight than another. (For example, they want both good grades AND good extracurriculars.) The problem is what the SAT indicates. Are you a bad test taker, and the scores are unnaturally low for you? Then you will probably be safe, although it’ll be tougher for you to get in. Or, are the SAT scores close to how you perform in school? If you doing anywhere near the middle in school, it’s probably not enough to make it in to UChicago. You need to be at the top, or at least near it.

middle 50th percentile for uchic. is 1450 to 1550, so obviously you must have a high SAT score to be accepted. That’s only one small part though.
