I just got back my SAT2 scores and did really horrible so I was wondering how important they are in the overall decision factor at CMU.

Chemistry 540
Mathematics Level 1 620
U.S. History 510

I'm not really sure what happened here, I expected to get about 400 on Chemistry and I thought I did well on the others. I got a 700 on the math of SAT1's, so I don't know why this score was so low. Anyways, I plan to take them again in December with Physics and Math 2.

You should try to raise your SAT scores (including your Sat1 scores) to have a decent shot at CMU. Admissions however are holistic and take other things into consideration besides test scores only. GPA and rigor of class schedules are major factors for example in admission decisions.

In other words, do not let you low test scores discourage you from applying to CMU.

I just took the subject tests and got a 680 on Math I and an 800 on Math II.

I don't know exactly how that happened, since I was expecting at least a 750 on the Math I, and struggled through Math II expecting to get a 650. Yay for curves?

I wish it was possible to cancel only one test score, rather than having to cancel both.

No need to do that Theotherguy, admissions committees are smart enough to see that you got a perfect score on the harder math test. Many schools will only look at one Math SAT2 anyway.
