Importance of SATs?

How important, relatively speaking, are SAT scores for admission into USC? Say for Marshall, as they may not be as important for prospective fine arts majors.

Does anyone know roughly how much they matter?

SAT scores are not as important for admission into USC as opposed to a larger public university. However, few people get in with a score lower than 1800. I was able to get into the Engineering program with a below average overall score (2040), but a high math score (760). I think Marshall focuses more on GPA and extracurricular activities as opposed to SAT scores. I know someone who got rejected from Marshall as an entering freshman, but had a strong GPA freshman year and was able to transfer in as a sophomore.

I don't think that USC considers SATs a "very important" factor. Of the schools that I follow this year, USC is the first where I have seen a significant scatter of SAT/ACTs in already admitted students. There have been a few instances of 2300+/35+/top few % kids who not only did not get scholarships, but were not in the first two admission waves. My D has 2230/34/top 10% and her status just got changed to "being reviewed". Someone with a 33 and 4.4 GPA is supposedly still stuck on "we have received".

I think they put more emphasis on the Essay and Recs (and probably the Quick Takes, too). Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

yea that plus your ec's i think. the tests have relevance but u're not gonna get in if u have a 2400 and are a couch potato

according to admissions officers, the quick takes are just a way to break-up the process of reading applications.

i read somewhere that while not answering the quick takes won't count against you if you leave them blank, but they could help you if you fill them in. idk tho..what trojanlove13 said would make sense
