Importance of Second Semester Grades? (Do Harvard/Top schools actually care?)

How bout straight A’s whole high school an straight Bs 2n semester senior yeR? Will you get rescinded?

I don’t think anyone was rescinded because of lacking grades. Then again, Harvard’s class is only 1600. The worst that can happen is allot of drama with the appeals panel (if they rescind) and they decide to put you on academic probation (not fun, and a likely outcome).

I’m pretty sure all the waitlist decisions are made before the end of the semester, so they shouldn’t impact the decision.

None of us know for sure, but I’m 99% sure that no school would rescind for B’s.

State schools are actually more draconian than ivies/MIT/stanford in terms of punishing for 2nd semester grade slips, but I don’t think even they would penalize for B’s. My feeling is if you get a “C”, a top private school would probably give you a hard time and end up doing nothing. Getting more than one is probably dangerous territory, and you might have to talk your way out of it. I wouldn’t try it.
