Importance of Sticking to Prompt

I'm applying to UNC and for the short essay (~250 words) i wrote something that doesn't really conform to any of their listed prompts. I know that this is fine for some schools, but does anyone know how important this is to UNC? I havent submitted my app yet so i can still write another if i need to but this one is pretty good and really says somethign about me...
also is it okay to say shittin*g in my essay?

Wow, I definitely wouldn’t use any swearing in your essay. IMO, it shows a lack of class and respect for the adcom. Find an alternate word. UNC really values the essays and they ask you to pick two of the eight prompts and to answer them with one long essay (500 wds) and one short essay (250 wds). I think if you like another essay from a different application you can use it for your long essay so long as you explain the prompt. If I were you use this essay as the long essay. Btw, I applied early to UNC.
Hope this helps.

Prompt #8 allows you to use another college’s essay.

yeah but it also specifies that it be in place of the longer essay, which would not work in my situation…
thanks though

yes I think it’s important to stick to the prompt. DD revised a few lines to fit the prompt. She basically reused some of her essays. She wrote maybe 4 essays top and revised them as necessary.
