importance of writing section

people keep saying the writing section doesnt matter. For me, it was my best section. What's the truth?

id like to know too it was my worst section

shoegal! i'm in the same boat. It was my best section as well--so it's rather disheartening to hear the speculation that it won't be considered as heavily as CR and M

it depends what school you want to go to..

My H and S went to an open house at Rhodes last Friday. The admiss. guy said they are not counting the writing portion at all until they get the kinks worked out.

most colleges do now know how to interpret it until after they accept c/o 2006 graduates and use it as a precedent...until then one can only speculate how colleges will look at it...most will consider it in admissions but if they do not require the new sat, they certainly cannot count it against you if you did not take it...furthermore if you did poorly it is likely not to hurt you as much as a poor math or critical reading score but a great writing score will at the very least put you in a positive light in terms of scores
