Hello. TO my understanding, the math placement test is online. If I do well, could I place out of Calculus? Also, does anyone have ANY idea (I'm having trouble finding info on the website) if I go into pre-med (lets say I major in Biology... nothing that has a lot to do with math like engineering or something lol), how many math credits are needed? Could i actually test out of Calculus and be completely done with math? Thanks.

I’m pretty sure that the test only goes up to precalc. The test is only used to additionally gauge your math prowess. Also, if you took the calc AP, I;m pretty sure that you can get credit. I have no idea how many credits are needed, but it shouldn’t be too bad. Premed students usually do take a good amount of math though, there is a good association between math and sciences.

Technically speaking LSA students are not required to take any math classes, unless it is a requirement for your major.

The placement test is to assess whether you are prepared for Calc I or if you should take a pre-calc class. It will not place you out of Calc I or any other calculus class. It is designed to look for students who may need extra help.

Thanks for you responses. I chatted online on AA’s website, and the lady said it can place you out of calculus, but idk if she actually knows what she is talking about lol since I got two answers saying otherwise. I tried looking if math classes were required for science majors (like biology) but could not find any info. Any idea guys?

I’ll be ecstatic if I don’t have to take any math classes in college haha

For Biology you need up to Calc 2.
