How easy it for US students to get accepted into UK universities? I'm an American student with fairly good grades, a good ACT score, and a few good Sat Subject tests scores. I know the personal essay is one of the most important parts of the application. I'm using the CommonApp to apply to universities, and we have to write the essay for the commonapp, and a personal statement that's much shorter. How should I write it? Specifically to their program or why I want the course?

I was thinking of St. Andrews and Edinburgh.
ACT: 28
SATII: 650+
GPA: 3.3
EC: equestrian, literary magazine, published in newspapers/magazines/literary journals.
I want to study English

Not sure about Edinburgh but St. A’s says it requires at least a 3.6 GPA and some APs or SATs over 700+…that being said I know of at least two Americans who did not meet those requirements (GPA) and were still accepted. St. A’s loves US students (because they have to pay at least 3x as much as UK students).

Do you have / are you going to do any APs? Those are the things that they will be most interested in, as they are the closest thing to Highers / A Levels that US applicants offer.

FWIW, Edinburgh and St Andrews are full of US students, which you may or may not see as a benefit.
