IMPORTANT!! When should I expect my decision from Tulane?

Hello everyone!

I submitted my Personal Application, EA, October 9th. My application status was "complete" Friday, October 23rd. I saw, on other threads, people got decisions 2 weeks after their app was complete. Is that true, and if so, do they notify you via e-mail, your Gibson account (app tracker), or do you have to wait for a formal letter?

PLEASE POST! Thank you!!! (I'm very nervous, lol)

Not sure about the e-mail, but they will post a decision in the app tracker, and then you will get a letter a week or two later. The web will only tell you if you have been admitted or not, the letter will also include any decisions regarding merit aid and Honors Program acceptance, assuming of course that the decision was positive.

so usually the magic number is 2 weeks… meaning this Friday?

thank you so much, btw!!

actually two weeks would have been 10/23

oops, should have read that more carefully - you are right. my S’s app was complete 10/12 though and still no word. Patience.

Often the counselor submitted information takes awhile to make it to the admissions office. Once everything is in I hear it is 2 to 4 week process.

ok, thanks everyone!! alright then, I’m very excited!

and yeah, idad… my app went in the 9th and everything followed within a week; but my GC’s stuff didn’t make it until 10/23 (2 weeks from when he sent it)

So if more than 4 weeks passed and the status still haven’t changed, this means rejection? Ithink this whole Personal Application was a scam to bump up their application numbers…

Well, it definitely wasn’t an intentional scam, last year it went very well, few complaints. This year, whether because of the huge numbers or some other reason it seems to be far less smooth. I hate to see it, because I agree it isn’t right to but something out there saying or strongly implying something and then not living up to it. Although 4 weeks isn’t really all that long, if they promised less they should live up to it, or at least send out a message that they are backed up. Have you written your adcom to try and get it moving, or see what the issue is?

Well, I got accepted exactly a month after I sent in the app. However, I do know people who still haven’t heard back over 4 weeks; the admissions office is just overloaded. You should, however, get it, within 2 weeks. Hope this helps!!

I got a response about 2/3 weeks after they received all my stuff. It took them a while to process everything though, and I called a few times to make sure they would accept all my stuff for the EA deadline. If you call and bug them, it might speed things up haha. It also shows interest. It helped me, I got accepted :)

They post decision on the Gibson thing, and they don’t send an email. I noticed it this Sunday 11/6 and haven’t gotten my letter in the mail yet.

I’ll send them an e-mail to see what’s going on. I have to admit though, the only reason I applied at all was because of the Personal Application and it was the only school I actually recognize out of all the free app offers. But I did spend time into it and I want to know what happened with it.

dreammerr - I think you meant 12/6. No biggie, one of my sentences in my previous post is as tortured as they get. Not sure what heppened there, lol. Anyway, there wouldn’t be a letter yet.

rc - you certainly have every right to expect a response since you responded to their offer. It will come, and probably soon.

haha yes I did mean 12/6! I forgot we’re in December! Whoops!

I get the feeling that most of the website updates (and probably the letters too) are handled by interns. Between the Thanksgiving Holidays and now finals, the interns might be a bit stretched at the moment. There could easily be a pretty significant backlog of approved applications waiting to be processed.

where do i find my result on the gibson site? would it be under “personal announcements,” because that’s blank? or do i have to create an email through the site?
i’m nervous, i sent it in a day before the EA deadline and still haven’t heard…should i be concerned?

No, milsk, look right under GIBSON and you’ll see the blue “My Application” tab. Click it and see what it says.

Omgomgomgomg!

I got in
thanks soooo much!
