congrats millsk :)

thanks!!! and same to you. are you definitely going?

umm… prob not, but I got their 2nd highest merit aid offer (17K/year), so it’s def up there… 1st and only school so far — don’t get my next school for another month =(

How did you find out your merit aid offer?

Merit offers only come in the paper letter of acceptance, not online. Slight correction to amr’s post, the awards this year so far have been 25K, 22K, 20K or 15K. I have not heard of a 17K offer this year, so that is a bit of a mystery.

I was just reading over the posts and was wondering if you work at Tulane since you seem so knowledgable. Anyway, on our end we are still waiting and we never anticipated it would take so long. All the paperwork was finally processed the third week in Oct. (took about three weeks to process) and I am relieved that there is an end in sight. My older daughter was accepted to Tulane (ED) Nov. 11th, yes this was 5 years ago so maybe things have changed as you’ve indicated on earlier posts. Just wondering what your thoughts were?

I got my letter in the mail today. I’m not sure if this is helpful to anyone, but I figured out the timeline of my application process. I submitted my application on November 2nd, and they received all my documents by the week of the 23rd, I don’t remember exactly which day. Accepted by December 6th. I hope this helps, even though I’m sure no application takes the same amount of time to process and review.

Thanks for the info-I can’t help but wonder if such a delayed response on our end or what feels like one is a cause for concern. It’s difficult to stay optimistic when so many have applied much later than my daughter and have already heard. Wondering if anyone else is having a similiar experience at this point and if my concern seems justified. Thanks … …

newyorkmom, i would have your daughter call especially if she used the priority app, most seem to have had a quick turn around time with that

newyorkmom - No, I don’t work for Tulane, but I would love it if they would pay me anyway, lol. I am just a loyal alum that now has a D there, and I have kept up with the school in the interim. Plus I like helping kids trying to make this difficult decision. I often recommend schools other than Tulane for students that clearly would be better off elsewhere, so it isn’t completely about Tulane, although supporting my alma mater is my primary goal.

Peoples experience regarding delays this year seem quite varied. I think there are more delays this year for sure, but many people seem to have no issues at all. It makes me wonder if it is a certain adcom that is the problem, or something totally different. Make no mistake, I am totally guessing about the cause. In any case, stay on them with e-mail until you get an answer.

Well we are receiving the typical notice for the past week indicating that the decision is pending a review and a final decision will be made no later than Dec. 15th. I guess it makes sense to wait until Tues. and of course follow-up if we don’t hear which I hope is not the case. If I try to contact someone over the weekend I am sure I wouldn’t hear back until after Tues anyway since it typically has taken a few days or more to hear back. I did check with admissions while we were waiting and waiting to hear that everything had been processed and they finally confirmed that the file was complete and ready for review so I’ll hang onto that for now. . . thanks

newyorkmom- My application was complete on October 8th. I did not hear until a week and a half ago. I called and emailed many times. As it turned out, my application was in a pile that was reserved for Transfer students. Once that this was rectified, I received my acceptance online within 3 hours! I was then told my letter wouldn’t arrive until close to 2-3 weeks. My letter arrived 5 days later! I was awarded 22K with an invite into the Honors Program. My advice is to call on Monday!

thanks so much I will call tomorrow . . . . .

Congrats ajl579 - Just confirming that the scholarship was called the Distinguished Scholars Award? And just curious, if you get into Vandy but with no scholarship, which will you do?

hey guys do you think I should give them a call tomorrow to make sure everything is okay with my application? I haven’t heard back yet and I applied Nov 9th and it was completed very shortly after

yeahh. I definitely would…did. Still haven’t heard? God that sucks!!

I will definitely call tomorrow I have a feeling they save the bulk of their denied and deferred decisions on Tuesday so I’m having a feeling thats my fate. I’ll figure it out Thanks everyone.

I refuse to believe that the extended wait signifies a rejection or a referral but I did email admissions and will follow-up with a call tomorrow for my daughter. If I hear back from anyone I will post the response and maybe others who are in the same situation can do the same.

meant a deferral not a referral . . . . . . .I’m getting loopy

Hey, Mongoose, don’t get too down on yourself! I’m with newyorkmom in being as optimistic as possible, as I still haven’t received a decision (applied 10/29, app complete 11/23 – although there was a little confusion with my counselor recommendation and I sent a few extra things to my adcom very recently, so maybe that’s what’s holiding it up). I’m really trying not to be concerned, and hoping and praying that I’m not deferred. If I’m accepted at Tulane, I’ll be done with my college search once and for all.

I am thinking that it may have a lot to do with adcom though. The admissions office is VERY lightly staffed. Judging by your username, newyorkmom, your daughter and I might have the same admissions officer. With the insanely high volume of students that apply from this region, this particular adcom may be a bit more overworked than those who represent other areas of the country. Just a thought…
