Im from NY too, and my App has been completed since Nov 14th.
So Im guessing the Northeast adcom may be facing some problems.

im from rhode island and manhattan and RI have two different reps… I double checked on the website I think they have a lot of apps from northeast and are overwhelmed ill call tomorrow nonetheless

i applied from boston on Nov. 13th and heard back by the 11th of December, but i know that tulane has a student body of 33% northeasterners, so my guess as to why some haven’t heard is with mongoos8p and newyorkmom-- they’re probably overloaded.

Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts, it def helps to connect with others who are having the same experience during this stressful wait. My daughter was just so upset this morning when she checked her status; nothing changed, before leaving for school. She has been the optimistic one up until now but to be honest, (trying to stay optimistic though) everyone who has applied from her school as well as outside school has heard back from Tulane so her frustrations are understandable at this point. She applied before some, not all and out of everyone is the one person who would really attend since she spent so much time at the school when her sister was there. This wait has been more than a couple months for her, she has been looking forward to this since she first saw the school five years ago. She has worked hard and is deserving of an acceptance as I’m sure many of you are as well.

Anyway, again when anyone hears anything if you could note it here that would be great.

I’m not sure if it has already been suggested, but I’d send an email over to Jeff (Long Island students) or Erica (NYC students), assuming one of them is your daughter’s admissions counselor. I believe Jeff’s email is jschiffm@tulane.edu and Erica’s is esalm@tulane.edu. I’ve sent my counselor a couple of messages and have gotten quick, helpful responses.

Personally, I got my decision within a week or two, and then got my letter about three weeks later, but I applied a little earlier.

Good luck to you and your daughter.

Yes, good advice, I actually emailed Erica yesterday so hope to hear something today although a decision would really be the best response. Thanks again . .

I just called this morning and they say I’ll have a decision by tomorrow online…Very frustrating because that makes me feel I might be getting some bad news (I wonder if they even had time to review all the apps)

I hear you on that one. My son applied EA quite early; delay in transcript submission; but has been complete for at least 3-4 weeks. Still no response. I’m thinking deferral.

mine has been complete for 3 or 4 weeks too… seems like were in the same boat Makes me sad if they didn’t have the time

me too because if an app is on the cusp, lack of time could mean less time to give the iffy apps their full consideration.

I just talked to school again and it turns out my letter went out last thursday… so I just got to wait for that… it very easily could be deferral letter :(

don’t be stressin’ too much. My friend was deferred and asked for her grades a couple weeks ago. So It’s likely the remaining applications are just as mixed as decisions made thus far.

Still waiting. :(

On the bright side, I know I’ll have to hear by tomorrow. On the slightly dimmer side… I’m becoming more and more concerned that I’ll be deferred.

It’s odd that it is taking so long for some of you to get decisions. Mine was posted online less than five days after the app was listed as complete.

Tmac - I see you are from Illinois. It seems that the people that are having most of the problems are from the Northeast, especially NY. It is beginning to look more and more like that is the issue. Not that I am blaming the adcom, more likely because Tulane draws so heavily from that area and the number of apps is at another record high by 10% over the previous high, it is probably just crazy there.

Ah, I see. Guess I got lucky. I wasn’t even expecting to be admitted (was deferred from UIUC, which I think is less selective), but it was so quick.

Man, I’m so bummed. I’m thinking deferral as well…I totally sent in my app Nov 4 and my status hasn’t changed from “your app has been complete.” I think I would’ve heard earlier since I’m from Oregon…

TMAC don’t worry about Illinois Urbana I got deferred there too you have to remember they made radical changes to their acceptances this year so don’t be bumped! Also in this economy everyone wants to go to state schools! I’m actually from CHICAGO lived there, in the city, for 16 years and have attended boarding school for the last two in the Northeast

Bump…I’m a Chinese and my status is also unchanged. I completed my application before the deadline and my SAT is 2210. Maybe they know I just use Tulane as my safety…

Hi everyone, so yes it does seem as though some of the delays are in the New York area which was good to hear since it’s easy to overanalyze all of this. I did speak to someone today who told me that they received 30,000 applications, guess she was referring to EA not sure. I was also told that a decision was made for my daughter and that it should be up shortly, this was hours ago and here we are, still waiting; there has to be a better system that doesn’t fuel so much anxiety.
