Impossible size of ec spaces on common app

How does anyone fit anything of importance on the common ap ec spaces. For example, if I put student government and I was vice president of the class soph. year and president jr. and sr. year, where do you put it? Am I missing something?

Just briefly fill in the top few ECs on the common app, and send in a more detailed activity resume as a supplement.

Thanks. Do you put "See below" and use the additional space in the common application also, or do you just add a resume?

actually i would not really recommend sending in an extra resume....from college reps visiting my school it seems like most of them feel that such a resume would be unnecessary; imagine if EVERY applicant sent in an extra activities list

the whole point of the EC portion being so short is just that, it SHOULD be brief

if you have a particular meaningful EC, perhaps write about it passionately in an essay

aznoverachiever is right. Students always think sending a separate page with EC details or a couple of extra recs or an extra essay etc is going to help. Not true. The admission counselors usually don't have so much time or patience for the extra stuff. So make sure that you do a good job of communicating your strong points in the space given in the application form. Always assume that other things may not be looked at.

"For example, if I put student government and I was vice president of the class soph. year and president jr. and sr. year, where do you put it?"

In the "title" box: "Student Government" or if that's too long "Student Gov't"
In the "honors/awards/etc." box: "VP 10, President 11-12"

There's often a way to make it fit without losing any information.
