Improving my SAT score with 440 in 17 days

I'll be writing SAT's on the 6th of October - and I have ONE shot to achieve 1400-1600 (Only counting Maths and Critical Reading - Writing excluded)

I just did a Practice Test (Test #2 in Official SAT Study Guide 2nd Edition) and scored:
Maths: 540
Writing: 540
Critical Reading: 520

In order to motivate myself to work hard over these next few days, on my mission to improve my score by 440, I'll post what I'm doing daily and how my scores have improved, if any one is interested :)

Let's do this! Feel free to comment - would love to hear what you think or what tips/advice you might have.

I’m in the same boat as you!!! I’m taking my SAT test on October 6th too.
My main problem with the test is the Math portion…
What prep books, other than the BB, are you using?
Right now, I’m using Barron’s for the Math. I also have Gruber’s, but at this moment, that book is ahead of me, lol.

For Writing, go through all of these videos and take notes:

[SAT Grammar Bootcamp - YouTube](SAT Grammar Bootcamp - YouTube)

Get acquainted to writing rules and begin to identify them when taking a test.

For Math:

Gruber’s Math Workbook is good.

For CR:

Study Vocab lists. Essential Words is good.
For PBR, cold hard practice. Begin to develop a strategy that works for yourself.

Yeah please do it

Also let’s revise together? -_-

Only 16 more days until mind overload…

I’ve been having some issues with geometry :(

@TheBestMedicine, good video post!!! :)

Hey fellow College-Confidential-ers who are probably freaking out as much as I am!

First of all - I only have College Board BB 2nd Edition, and Kaplan 2010 (And because I live in South Africa, there’s no time for ordering more). So I need to rely on those and any other online help!

As I’m still busy with school exams as well (I know, terrible, 2 exams left), I focused on learning some SAT Vocab words. BEST TIP FOR LEARNING VOCAB WORDS: google “Majortests” and go to their site.

They have 10 wordlists of 100 words each, and it has help me tremendously. Of all the practice tests I’ve written, there has only been a maximum of 3 words I didn’t know after studying all those words. It obviously takes a while, but print out all the wordlists, cut them up and make a pack of flashcards (you’ll see what I mean when you see how they look) and you WILL thank me, I promise  It’s so worth it.

We can do it!

And another thing - anybody else who thinks they might have some great advice, please feel free to comment! Especially about online-help.

online help for math: checkout khan academy if you haven’t already done so. there is a video tutorial where they work through an entire SAT math practice test.

Have you ever heard of the “PWN the SAT” book?
You should definitely check that out.
Find that book on Amazon, and read the reviews.
At first, I thought this is bit expensive to me. But it’s worth it, trust me!
I was suck at Math, really. I tried McGraw’s SAT Guide, BlueBook.
Those are really good, but in Math section I couldn’t do anything and those weren’t helping me.
They were too formal in language, and also in guidance.
Luckily, I found PWN the SAT. For more information about the book, just go to Amazon page.
You should work on that book with Blue Book, btw.
