So I just got my score back from the December SAT (my first time) and here's the breakdown:

Total: 2030 (powerscore of 1430)

M: 740
CR: 690
W: 600 (I got an 8 on the essay)

Would it be possible for me to improve my scores enough to break 2200? I know I could bring that writing up a little with study. I'm a Junior by the way.

Absolutely. The first time I took the test in 2005, I had a score similar to yours. I brought it up 220 points in 2 months. And brought it up even more since.

I agree with the above poster. You can improve math and writing very easily, even in a short time range. Critical reading is more difficult to improve, but if you can score high 700 for M and W then your cumulative score will already be pretty high. You should consider taking the March test, which would give you 2-3 months to prepare.

CR isn’t that hard to improve upon, given that you have an inherent command of English Language.
You just need to learn the patterns as to how the Collegeboard constructs question. Do each and every question you can find in the Official SAT study guide, that will definitely raise your score.
