IMSA Applicant Class of 2020

@javascript i’m a flute, i haven’t ventured into other orchestral instruments bc i haven’t had the chance to lol. but yeah i like jazz ;))

@birdie02 Excel is a mandatory program that you will find out if you have to attend after placement testing. It is just to help certain kids get used to the transition between their home and IMSA, academically, socially, etc. The people here I’ve talked to have said it was like school but more fun.

Has anybody not received the letter yet? I have not. Living in the Chicago area, I have not received it yet. Has anybody received the letter yet. I have not. Living in the Chicago area, I assumed I would already have received it…

@javascript Congrats!!! And is there an accepted class of 2020 group chat? If so, add me in. PM me and I’ll give you my email/FB.

Hi! My son applied and just received the letter. He’s so disappointed that he did not accepted…
His math SAT 710 reading 680 and GPA is good too and involved in many many clubs and extracurricular activities. It doesn’t make sense.

@balloony Thanks, and congratulations to you too!!! @cringemaster flute in jazz will sound amazing @noodles2015 I live 3 hours away and I got the mail. I suppose, it might be some problems with your local post office. I am sure you will get it tomorrow!

Accepted!!! :open_mouth:

Seriously though, congrats to everyone who got in!

Does anyone know what the IMSA email is? I’m filling out forms and I have no clue. xD

PM me too if someone makes a group chat

^^ me too

I’m sorry to hear that, but IMSA doesn’t pick people based on their SAT scores and GPA. The mainly focus on the actual application. IMSA doesn’t alway want the best of the best. They choose people based on whether or not they seem potential for them to learn and grow within the community. @priti78

Im actually in one on google, join the conversation on Hangouts: https://■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/group/OcxKH6lxAsuqb2G03

@priti78 Yeah, that @alreadyaccepted said. In addition, while it may not seem like it, the diversity of the student body is much more important than we tend to think. Also, essays are more heavily weighted than things such as personal aspects.

to those of you who currently attend imsa, can you tell me what the math placement test was like? because I can’t go to the excel program because i’m going to be at john hopkins for the summer and i need a high enough score

ah ok I see @HooHah05, thanks~~

Same i have the exact question as @spoonfulofpi lol~ I’m attending summer school for a chemistry course though, haha

A current sophomore told me that the math placement test is extremely easy.

I live one hour away from IMSA and the rejection letter didn’t arrive yet.

@birdie02 you can’t (and shouldn’t) study for placement testing. If you study, then you’ll be placed into a class that’s too challenging for you. If you have to go to Excel, you have to go.
