IMSA Applicant Class of 2021

@mrcw42

This is a weird time to bring it up again, but I apologize for my answer regarding the pianos last month. They’re not as out of tune as you think lmao; I exaggerated too much. There is one piano room (between the band and the chorus rooms) that has a nice quality and is my go to piano room now (which I should’ve done months ago… but I stuck with the no-G-string piano room… sigh). All of them are decent. Sorry for my exaggerations…

@birdie02
As to the practice rooms, are there rooms to practice other instruments other than piano. Like for band? Also, would someone be able to practice these instruments (fairly quietly) in their own room? Thanks!

@just_try

Sorry to be too specific in my previous replies – yes, those rooms can be used for practicing other instruments. Each practice room has its own piano too. Idk anyone who practices their instrument in their own room, but I know of an residential counselor (RC) who plays their instrument in their room, because they are a musician, but the typically play when students are typically in class. I once heard them play their instrument when they were in their room – it is relatively audible… so in the end, I would say you should at least tell your dorm mates (at least the ones that live nearby you) that you might play your instrument at times, should you play your instrument in your room.

Ahahaha hopefully that rant/paragraph is understandable lmaoooo

@birdie02 thanks!

@just_try Depending on which hall and wing you end up at, you may be able to play your instrument in your room. In my case, my wing made a rule to not practice our instruments in our rooms for the wall are not sound proof. But just check in with the people in your wing if they are fine with it and from what times it is okay to practice if so.

@bluehorse123 thanks so much!

Does anyone know the time letters usually come out? I know it’s around the end of spring but does anyone know anything more specific?

@WishingGirl they mail out the letters on May 1st, so expect a delay of a few days after that.

Thank you! I can’t believe letters come out in under a month

@WishingGirl No problem! I can’t believe it either, good luck to everyone!

@Sasagi

Your stats are very good, especially that high SAT score. I think you have a good chance of being accepted as long as your teacher recs and your essays are good as well.

hi is anyone still active on here

@scrunchies yeah, what do you need?

oh hi!!! ok so i know i’m a bit late but do you know how much sat scores matter in chances of getting in? (that was worded really weird, hopefully it makes sense)

@scrunchies they have a holistic approach so they don’t look at any one factor too much. There is no set amount that one thing is worth, it’s just how you overall look as an applicant. If I had to guess, I would guess that SAT probably accounts for around 20% of what they look at, but I could be totally wrong. Just keep in mind that you did your best, and at this point nothing can change that. If you presented a good overall application I wouldn’t worry too much about what your SAT scores were. Hope this was helpful, and sorry for the long explanation.

@just_try ohh, okay i see. that eased my nerves a bit haha. thank you for the explanation, it was super helpful!

@scrunchies no problem! Just remember that none of these people are trying to get you out, and I’m sure you had good teacher recs and essays, so don’t worry about it
