Does anybody know how 8th graders perform if they get into IMSA? Do they feel overwhelmed? Do they get into to good college by joining High school one year early?
@ss2004 I’m applying for the class of 2022, but I did try to apply in 8th grade last year, and I talked to one of the admissions directors. She told me that if I were to apply as an 8th grader, you’d have to be mature enough to be able to live on your own and be independent. I’m sure that an 8th grader and a regular 9th grader will be overwhelmed no matter what, since the only difference there is age. However, I think that if you do have that maturity level and you set your priorities straight, you’ll be fine! Also, I’m not sure about the college thing - I’m almost positive that all IMSA kids go to a good college no matter what and it would look impressive if you did skip a grade, but I’m not sure if it would guarantee anything. I hope this helped a little
Thanks for your response. Does IMSA maintain any data compared to performance of students who joined from 8th grade compared to 9th grade? Does 8th graders score same as 9th graders in IMSA?
I understand most of the IMSA students end up in good colleges, but there is diff between first best college(IVY League/MIT/BAYLOR etc) to second best college. Has there been any comparison made between 8th or 9th grade admitted students, what kind of colleges they end up in?
Hello fellow students, I recently moving here from India so my English is not being good. I want to apply to the academy because I think I will do well there, I am loving math. Currently I am taking Multivariable Calculus at my school. I won many math competition in the state level and qualified for the Aime.
My SAT score is not being the best I want it because my English is not best. I got 730 in English and 800 in Math, I tried my level best in English and could only get the 730 score, I wish I could have done it better. Do you guys think this will being okay to get into the Imsa? I am quite scary because I very much want to go, but my family and me is worried about my english sat score. As you guys have the good prospective I am hoping you can give me an answer, please being honest even if it not the nice answer.
@rakiraki honestly, your SAT scores are amazing! I don’t think you would have any problem with getting in based on your SAT scores. This is a silly question, but did you apply for class of 2022?
Guys this is getting real and I’m super nervous! I’m just super scared of getting rejected. This is kind of a long shot, but is there anyone out there that has the same fear as me/has gotten rejected in the past?
@brinaz03 It is definitely natural to feel nervous about decisions, as we all have worked very hard to get to this point. However it is imperative to know that no matter where you may be next year, IMSA or your regular high school, you still have the potential to succeed.
Y’all this is getting serious. I’ve been wanting to apply years and my fate is soon to be revealed. So I’m hella shook.
@BL1234 ik same for me!! but don’t worry, we got a week and two days left, the waiting game is almost over!!
Does anyone think letters will come early? They did last year.
@BL1234 I don’t know, they came early last year because the selection committee ended early, so it all depends on when they end. When I’m back on campus (we are on an extended break because of Easter and Passover) I can see if they’re still in session. If they are tomorrow I can let you know.
@just_try Yes please!! Just make a comment in the forum.
@BL1234 guys I just want them to come!! I just wanna know, no matter how good or bad the outcome is haha
@just_try Did the committee end early?
@BL1234 I just walked past and it didn’t seem like they’re in session, but they could’ve moved or could be putting answers in envelopes. I’m not sure if you’ll get them early though, but there’s a chance
@BL1234 @just_try
I believe that IMSA mailed letters on April 25 last year, so it is a possibility that they may do the same this year.
@just_try Any updates on the admissions team and when our letters could be mailed? Thanks
According to the IMSA calendar, the selection committee was scheduled to meet on April 15-17. Admission decisions should have been made by now. The placement tests will be held on May 17. Decision letters should be mailed out soon.
Decision letters have been mailed!
guys I’m so nervous!! this is kind of a dumb question but how long does it take for someone to receive something in the mail xD
