IMSA Applicant Class of 2023

@sparklesk8 It’s okay, life goes on.

I have a question. How hard is it to get a good GPA at IMSA?

@kikisq so it’s not impossible - actually, keeping straight As isn’t the most challenging thing at IMSA, what students really struggle with is finding a balance with their time between sports and clubs and commitments. because of that, people’s grades usually suffer but it’s honestly not the hardest thing in the world!

I am an 8th grader and had applied for IMSA class of 2023. I didn’t get through but got an invitation to meet with the Admissions team for feedback on my application. What does this mean?

@IMSAaspire The same thing for me. It means that they think you would do better in the Class of 2024. The virtual meeting will basically be where they tell you which areas of your application were strong and which to improve on, including your resume (my guess). Definitely set it up because you can put it on your resume for next year! It shows interest/dedication to IMSA.

Hey guys! I got waitlisted for the class of 2023. (I am a freshman in high school)

Thank you @KO3050. Is this feedback process for all 8th-grade students whose application is rejected, or offered for a few students?

Just from curiosity, how many students on the waitlist are accepted? Is there a priority ranking for the waitlisted people as well?

I am also on the waitlist. I am wounding when the final decision will be made, and whether I need to re-submit evaluations from various teachers.

@IMSAaspire Not everyone gets the interview I think. They only give it to you if they think you would be a good fit for IMSA, just not this particular year since we are shmen.

if you’re on the waitlist, don’t worry at all! most of my closest friends at imsa were waitlisted, and a majority of them ended up getting in, early june-mid july, and i even knew a kid who got the call the day before move-in. whatever you do, please do not get off the waitlist!! the majority of waitlist kids do get in, so please don’t give up hope!

as for the priority thing, they pick people based off of people who dropped out - so if a person who was accepted drops out, imsa tries to find people who match that person’s demographics (where they live, what race they are, gender, etc.) so basically the closer you are to a match, the more likely you’ll get off. however, they do have some people in mind when they do make the phone calls for waitlist kids, and i know some kids who were higher into consideration that got in earlier than others. it all just depends tbh

Any deferred admissions here?

also new sophs feel free to dm me so we can keep in touch !! i can’t wait to meet all of you<33
