If I'm #14 out of 17 on the wait list? Trying to decide if I should even show up tomorrow. I couldn't register for the class until I knew for sure if I passed it in Spring semester. Didn't so I registered late and that's where I ended up.

Showing up never hurts. Give it a shot.

If it’s going to affect whether or not you get into a UC, I’d keep going every week until the add/drop deadline in hopes of the class whittling down. Do the homework, take notes, and explain to the professor that you’re willing to keep coming. I did this for a couple math classes and it worked.

i would do that if it didn’t conflict with another class i’m taking. guess i’ll just straight up tell the professor what my situation is and if there is any chance i’ll get in. if so i’ll just drop the class i’m registered for and go for the one i’m wait listed in.

the deadline to add is this coming thursday i can see maybe 6-7 people on the list getting in…tops. but #14? really doubt it.

You should try. My math teacher has already added 13 students to a full 33 person class.

In the future, make sure you email your professors way before the class starts to express your interest.

You should really go the first few days at least and see how many of the 35 students already registered for the course and the 13 students on the wait list ahead of you actually show up for the class. You could also ask the professor how many, if any, and under what circumstances he normally allows students on the wait list to register for the class. That should give you a pretty good idea of what your actual chances are of being able to register for the class. I realize getting into this class is very important for you and that you have to do whatever you can to get into it. What you do not know, of course, is what is at stake for the students already enrolled in the course and ahead of you on the wait list and how motivated they are going to be to take and finish the course.

Go to every section of the Calc II course no matter who the teacher even if it is 7am through 9pm.
I’d even be waiting at the door way to make eye contact with the professor.

You will have the best shot at the earliest and last evening class.
Show up every day for every section until the last day to add/drop.

You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

By some miracle I got into the class. I showed up at the beginning of class each day this week and then left to go my other one and today he did the adds and i got in as the last add on the list. That’s one problem solved but the other is if my UC will accept the class even though I didn’t have it done by Spring. They still haven’t gotten back to me.That part I’m not hopeful at all about but hey maybe getting that last spot in the class is a sign?

Works every time.
At least you are legitimately enrolled in the class.
Now ace the class.
UC will take their sweet time to get back to you.

Little_Duck, you have done all you can do by getting into the class. You have no control over what your UC is going to do so do not obsess about it and instead focus on doing the best work that you can in the course.
