In bioinfo, No interview, No offer?

Hey guys, I have been applying to many bioinfo programs but so far have no interview.

Does that mean rejection? They don't even bother to interview me...

If you are international, you might be admitted without an interview. Also, the timeline for internationals is much later than that for domestic applicants. International students applying to bio programs are just starting to hear back. One of my friends (from Singapore) applied last cycle and didn't hear back until July!

Right I am an international.

What I want to ask is actually the program. Many of my classmates who have applied to pure bio-med programs have offers after the interview. And I know bio- programs tend to have interivews.

But what about Bioinfo?

from my experience (US applicant/phD), bioinformatics/biomedical informatics programs/computational biology do have interviews. have heard that internationals get phone-interviews

also waiting...

btw, did anyone hear something from the computational biology (not the Tri-I one) at Cornell?

If I am not mistaken, bioinformatics programs do take longer than other biomedical science programs to begin the whole process. My anecdotal evidence stems from the program at my current university and a friend of mine. They routinely make offers in early April. Best of luck.

I attended an interview weekend last week and my roommate applied to Bioinformatics program at Duke and NCSU. She told me she went for interviews and finally was accepted by both of them. (She is an international student living in the US)

I don't think international applications are considered later. If you haven't heard from now, it is very likely that you have been rejected. This is true at least for the top schools in bioinformatics, where most people offered acceptance accept their offer. There may be a lot of openings for mid-tier schools come end of April though...

So it is just sad news for me.
