In case you missed the announcement ...

Help! I turned off everything on the notifications menu but am still getting emails! Anyone know how to make it stop? Thanks.

Agree with BunHeadMom about post numbers. And about the miniscule size of user names. And why is the time listed as if it’s the headline, at the top and in larger font than anything else? Makes no sense.

And please please PLEASE, I’m begging you, do something about the tiny font! Between that and the glaring white field, I’m getting a headache.

I so dislike the board changes.

Waaaay too much white space … undue amount of scrolling needed; everything’s spread out & harder to read.

The list of threads use a light blue font that has insufficient contrast with the white background –
much harder to read. Speaking of which, all the white is giving me a headache.

And where I once had single useful email with synopses of the day’s thread responses, there’s now a single email message for each post, with no information about it. Totally useless – I’ve already unsubscribed.

And the control panel & thread tools are hidden.

Oh, and the Contact link at the bottom of the page – doesn’t work.

Worst makeover I’ve seen since Weather Underground’s last change
(except at least they have a Classic view).

Awful … just bloody awful.

[/rant, turning off notifications … ]

How can I change back to the “CC Classic?”

Also, has CC been hacked? I am getting response notifications in my email for multiple threads I’ve been on recently, all from different posters, and every single post says “Have a great day!” I haven’t clicked on any of these to get to the site. Is anyone else having this problem?

How do you follow a thread from where you last read it when you logged in? I don’t see the old button “new post”.

This new format is terrible. May be a sign of the slow impending death of CC.

moneyp- The last post you read information was lost in the migration but once you’ve read a thread, clicking on the title of the thread does take you to the spot where you were the last time.

You can make all the fonts bigger by holding the CTRL key on your keyboard and clicking the + sign. This makes the font bigger and actually eliminates a lot of the white space at the sides, although you can only see about two posts at once on a screen then.

thanks for that tip 2016BarnardMom, but how do i know if there were new replies to a thread that i had read before?

FWIW, the Wesleyan forum has been wiped clean of virtually all threads less than six years old. Bumping the newer threads does no good. Apparently, they are being bumped into outer space because they don’t appear on the forum at all.

Agree that there is waaayyyyy too much white space, and waaaaayyyyyy too much wasted space.

When I go to a specific subforum, I have difficulty seeing where the list of sticky threads end, and the non-sticky threads begin. I don’t remember how it was set up before, but I could easily scan down to the first thread under the stickies.

Essentially, the look of this site doesn’t have enough visual discrimination to facilitate ease of use.

All of the above.

About the “bookmark”: “bookmark”, “dismiss” and “edit” are all light blue and appear above and before the thread title, which is also light blue. It takes my eyes a long time to find the thread title and I literally have to squint.

I guess it is a combination of the white space, the hard to see light blue typeface (the “classic” CC setting got rid of this for me in the past), the small typeface, the general visual busyness, that is giving me a headache. I tried it again this morning and within a few minutes have a headache and feel dizzy.

I am open to change and even managed to put a photo in place of the CC logo near my name. But if the old CC isn’t restored, it’s bye-bye CC. Too bad.

Just want to say how much I have appreciated all of you!

What is going on with notifications? I’ve got 10 emails in my box about posts to threads I posted on before. I know I never subscribed to any of them. Oy.

I just clicked on some members’ avitars and also names, and what looks like private messages pop up… I’m sure nobody wants those messages available for the world to read. I was able to see them even when I was not logged in.

Nooooooooo… Bad Bad Bad… Too hard to read. Too much wasted space. Too much blue. Don’t really want to invest the time and energy in figuring this out. Also, really hard and confusing to search for something. I’m not opposed to change, but this seems to just be cosmetic and is really difficult. Another thing-- can’t tell which forums have unread posts, which are new, etc. So, this might be good-bye. :(

Yuck. Agree with pretty much all of the comments here. I’ll add - I don’t see “Today’s Posts” and “Latest Posts” is useless now. The right-most column used to show the forum, so I could scan down quickly to see if anything of interest. Now the forum follows the post title…way too busy…and the right column is who posted last…really not that critical to me. “Someone” needs to find out why our college graduates with degrees in CompSci and related fields that are being hired for these projects are so poorly prepared for this work…think CommonApp 2013 failure, HealthCare 2013 website failure, Target and other major breeches…and the list goes on and on…(or is it that these “low-bid” companies ARE NOT hiring the best and the brightest)…? Just seems to be a lot of this going around…

I just clicked on some members’ names and avitars, and was able to see their private messages. I could do this even without being logged in. Ack! Major problem!

Where ARE the administrators? They don’t care to answer questions? I don’t think CC cares about the older posters. Kiddies are more important! (BIG mistake on this site!) Anything that can be done to drive up page views will bring CC more $. And that’s what it’s all about.

Hate it. Too much glare, print too small. It’s just not good. I’ve been on this site for 9 years! Don’t think I’ll be here anymore.

I am not great with tech changes. The FB link is too creepy for me and the new format is tough to read. I also would like a tutorial thread that is stickied to the front of the parents thread.

Oh no I use private messages to say very personal things about my kids that I would never make public on the forum itself, and even share my personal e-mail there. I hope the problem mentioned above about easy access to PM’s is fixed IMMEDIATELY. The site name can no longer be College “Confidential” when confidentiality is breached.

I tried to delete my outgoing and incoming private messages for security but cannot figure out how to do it. Moderator, please delete/erase my PM’s so noone can read them or tell me how to do it. I am alarmed.

CC is going to lose a lot of people I’m afraid. Last post for me until the situation has changed.

Compmom, apparently those are “visitor messages” , not “private messages” that I saw.
