^^ That made me sad. I never understand why people feel the compulsion to fix things that ain’t broke.

However, there is exactly zero chance that CC will un-do this unfortunate “improvement,” so maybe someone would like to start a thread for fixes we’d like to see, a sort of suggestion box? expatCanuck?

For me, the itty-bitty font is what’s really annoying. Painful too, it’s given me a headache two days in a row now.

I’m sure the team is watching these threads very carefully for all the comments and suggestions. I’m not fond of tables, especially tables that have boxes around them so I basically like the new design. Almost all of the old functionality is here once you figure it out and the longer edit time, avatars and large PM boxes are a bonus. Drafts is great, I lost so many old posts before I hit reply. I’m already on record in agreeing with the vertical spacing. I also agree that we dont’ need “Senior Member” 2x under the Avatar and it would be nice to let people set their location for privacy e.g. East Coast as opposed to Hartford, CT or On the Moon instead of Wyoming - I did like that feature. I also agree that I’d give up avatar size, to be able to see people’s names better - so often you “look” for people that you like to read and it’s too difficult now.

<control><+> or <control><-> to increase or decrease browser font size on a Windoze box.
I think it’s <command> (that-Curly-thing-key?) on a Mac. Maybe <ctrl>, tho’.
Doubtless, something similar on Linux.</ctrl></command></control></control>

To me, the worst thing about the new site is the wasted screen space.
As a rule, humans are remarkably good at sifting through densely packed
(but organized) information, and identifying what’s of interest.
Google News is okay as an example, tho’ I prefer denser still.

I gravitate to sites that let us do that.

As I type this, I can see this post and only LasMa’s post above it.
To me, that’s just an absurd waste of space.

Thats a good question, @mom2collegekids. Every forum has at least one thread talking about CC’d update. It’s pretty funny because in the Engineering Forum, they were rating the webpage designers and discussing where they went wrong and right! :D

And I’m on the record as saying…we need numbered posts on each thread, a delete function for PMs, a “report post” button that works, elimination of ONE of the member designations…don’t need two. I personally think the dancing emoticons are a waste. I honestly don’t give two hoots about the avatars. It would be nice for an opt OUT for FB and Twitter.

I agree there is too much whitespace. The font change is also more difficult to read vs the previous board. I’m hoping they can changes some of these issues. I’d rather see a bit larger font, and much less gaps above, below and on both sides of the screen. At the bottom of the page (where I am now to enter a reply) there is almost 1/2 of my screen that is white space (if I combine the huge gaps on the left and right of the text areas).

It is much easier to scroll through thread titles when they are closer together. I hope they figure this out soon.

Also does anyone know if the android app has been updated? I can no longer access CC using my phone.

You can now start discussions in the “Ivy League” and the “Colleges and Universities” forums without going to a specific college. That’s dumb. Fix it.

Also, I’d like to be able to see which threads I commented on.

And lastly, what are these for?
:bz :ar! >-) 3:-O ~:>

I am old and resistant to change. I admit it. Within the past couple of weeks I had finally taken the time to revert back to the non-white format of CC. And look who’s back? Killing my eyes. Been a CC afficianado since it “moved” in 2004, but perhaps us “old-timers” have outdated opinions and nothing much to offer…ugh. CC is a pain in the arse to use right now. On the other hand, DH will be happy to find that I am spending less time on CC.

Hate password ‘requirements’, means I’ll forget it since my natural urge isn’t to follow these parameters.

Don’t like the vast amount of white, wastes time.

You always had my real email or I wouldn’t have signed up again. In the era of Prism (Snowden) I wonder WHY people need my info and what metadata I am feeding. :(

Agree that the requirement of clearing your history should be stated. I kept wanting to retort ‘Varnish your own cache (whatever that is!)’

I had no idea so many of you were furry.

more constructively (one hopes), when I went to ‘C’ for the college list, I used to be able to immediately see which of the UC forums had had new posts, now I have to go into each forum separately to see that, which is annoying.

Does anyone know if the “member since” ID will be returning? I find it useful/helpful when reading posts to get a sense of whether someone is a long-time fora participant or a newbie. It can be useful in determining how much credit I give the person/post ;)

I’m sure the mods are watching our reactions, although they’re probably scattered all over the site. I just thought one central place for suggestions would be helpful for everyone.

Does anyone know how to see what used to be called “My Posts” or something like that? It’s happened to me several times that I don’t remember which of the threads I made a specific comment on

LasMa, if you click on your name you can see your previous posts under “Replies” on the left.

It doesn’t show whether or not there are any new posts though. This is honestly the only way I check the site 90% of the time- to see if there are new posts in the threads I’ve posted in. With it gone, I’ll be posting/checking considerably less especially when I reblock CC from my computer tonight.

I don’t mind emoticons, but these are so tiny I can’t tell what they are. Too many of them as well. A cow? Really? Like others I’d like the post numbers back, though you can always refer to the time stamp I suppose. I liked having locations of some sort for the posters, even the funny ones. I could not care less whether people are junior or senior members. I don’t like the white background either, but it doesn’t bother me on other forums where there isn’t so much extra white space. And I agree 100% that I want to be able to see more than two or three posts at a time on my screen.

I like the avatars. I can see if there are new posts and how many. I never understood why there were visitor messages before. Do want to be sure private messages are private. Love that it’s saving drafts of posts. Like the likes. Like the helpful option also. I never used my control panel before, so no idea if the current configuration is better or worse.

Where can you see private messages? - I can find in box but not outbox and I can’t see anyway to delete and/or manage the PMs. I, too, only scanned certain threads/for a for a for new posts and now can’t tell what is new since I last visited. I imagine I will be done with CC unless there is something specific I want to search for…I could hardly manage all the features of the old site. Too much trouble for me to figure out all the new – especially since I don’t see much actual functionality having been added.

And the idea of linking anything with social media - yech!
