My interest level is more or less the same for both these courses.

I would very much appreciate thoughts and comments from people who have taken both or know people who have! Thanks!

Both easy. World history is much easier.

I think World is easier b/c they can only be so detailed in order to cover all the time and area. Euro is more specific imo.

AP Euro is generally considered to be one of the easiest AP’s. I haven’t taken world but I seriously doubt it could be easier.

People at my school (which has an amazing AP program) really suck at Euro. Like they’ll pull 4s and 5s on every other test but Euro. It sometimes boils down to your teacher. Unless you read outside of class and stuff (which no one did b/c our book sucked)

And then they got so sick of Euro that they didn’t study.

its really breadth vs. depth. sure world history is not as specific but you learn about the whole world from the beginning of humans to present day! and im sure euro is focused in Europe, and while it might have more specific facts, im pretty sure they are at least somewhat mentioned in my ap world book

is euro a conceivable self study? or too hard…

I self studied euro. It didn’t take too much time, an average of about an hour each night for one semester. I’m pretty sure I got a 5 on it. So I would say it is pretty easy to self study.

AP Euro is a great class though, it was my favorite this year

Euro is a medium difficulty test, but it’s a great class. World I’ve heard has a great curve, and probably easier than euro.

In my school they are both requirements, world for freshmen year and euro for sophomore. I took world last year and I got a 4. This year I took euro and I had an awful teacher so basically I self studied and I think I got a four again. This year I had three other APs so I didn’t devote as much time to it. I honestly think they are pretty equal, but for world I didn’t study on my own as much because I had an amazing teacher. Euro is easier in a way because when you’re studying you aren’t switching from culture to culture but it is harder because you need to know more details.

Okay, basically I think world is easier with a good teacher and euro is easier to self-study.

I took both courses, Euro in 10th grade and World in 12th grade. I felt that AP World was much easier but then again, I had much more prior knowledge about European history for the AP World course so I’m sure that it made it easier.

bump 10char.

bump again :(

Honestly, my world and euro teacher sucked (had the same one for BOTH ><) but I liked euro better just because I found that stuff more interesting. Umm… I studied more for euro and liked it better so I’d say it was easier, contrary to like, everyone on this thread LOL! But I heard world has a pretty good curve and I didn’t do too badly on it (I hope!). Took both simultaneously.
You’re debating between the two? Personally I would recommend euro all the way. It was so interesting even with my bad teacher, and seriously I was so annoyed with the level of depth (lack of, basically) in world. My whap book spent maybe 10 pages on the whole french revolution and in euro we spent 3 chapters on it and learned just how much impact it had on europe and basically the world.

AP Euro is a hard class based on your teahcer. My teacher was really into it and he made the class very challenging. I loved it though, it was a great class. European history is very diverse and the ties and relationships between social, economics, religious and other topics is very interesting. I’m sure World history is just as interesting but I haven’t taken it.

Euro is significantly harder. You have to know the history much more in depth. That said, I prefer learning about Western cultures in general and history is my favorite subject. Therefore, Euro was the most enjoyable AP test I’ve ever studied for.

EDIT: But if you suck at essays, world actually might be harder. You get a choice of 3 for Euro. World you have to do the essays.

world is easier at my school, if you have my teacher
he also teaches euro & he teaches the same way, but euro has more projects(like writing a paragraph on a city lol)
but the other ap worl teacher(doesn’t teach euro) gives his class alot of work

it just depends on your teacher & if you do the work
like i could never pass the other world teacher’s class because i would never do the work! lol

I don’t want to sound arrogant, but I got a 5 in AP World and thought that the exam was very easy along with the class itself. I don’t know about AP Euro though, but to me, history is my favorite subject and isn’t that difficult if you try.

I took both and I think Euro was definitely harder because its hard to keep track of similar names like King Charles XIV versus King Charles XVI.
