I recently taken the ACT during the February test date(First test ive taken). Well needless to say i did pretty awful, i received a composite score of 25. In my personal opinion i should of been able to hit 28+. It was a pretty stressful week with tons of personal issues clouding my head. I've decided to take the ACT again in June, I'm in need of a study schedule any advice there? I recently bought Barron 36 and the Real ACT Prep book (has red cover). I also have Grubers ACT 2010 and Princeton Review 1296 practice questions. Any advice on how i should formulate a study schedule?Any advice will be much appreciated!

I don’t think a composite score of 25 is awful. It is above average. I understand though if you want to get a higher score. I know a lot of kids where I live who would be thrilled with that score.

I am preparing to take the ACT in April – Yikes! that is only a couple of weeks! I can tell you what I have done. I have gone through an old Kaplan book with several subject workouts and practice tests. I have gone through the Barron’s 36 book. Both of these were leftovers from my brother. I have used the free online materials from the ACT website and I am now taking some practice tests from the Red Book. I work on ACT prep about 2 hours a day when I am able. I am slowly trying to build up my ability to focus for that long, especially for the reading and science sections.

I have heard that Grubers is good for Math, but not for the other subjects. After I get my April scores, I will have to reevaluate what I need to work on the most.

I need to spend more time for english, because i overthink and over analyze everything. I ended up getting halfway and of course my testing center didnt have a clock. I basically filled in the last half of english randomly. I ended up with a 19…oops haha. My mistake threw me off for the rest of my test.

The Barron’s 36 also has a really good English review. Now you know to wear a watch. That is on my list of things to get before the April test. I just use my cell phone and I know that I can’t use it on the ACT.
You can definitely improve that 19 in English with a little more prep and time management.
By June, you should be fine. Best of luck to you!
