hello! i have lots of dream schools, but i need more targets to fill out my list. i’m looking for a school that is urban or very close to urban center, a campus is preferred, an intellectual but well-rounded environment (kinda like that work hard play hard idea), a program in international relations or something very closely related, study abroad opportunities, and general good vibes. i am extremely privileged in that my parents have offered to pitch in for private education, which is what i would prefer, but i am certainly open to public schools
here are my stats:
unweighted GPA 9-11: 3.87, Weighted: 4.08 (my school does not weigh freshman or sophomore grades, or offer AP classes for those years)
took more and more advanced classes throughout, APs taken by end of senior year include: Enviro, World, Stats, Lit, US plus lots of honors classes
ACT: 34
Extracurriculars: Theatre Tech for 3 shows, Ensemble for 1 show, Leadership 3 yrs in temple youth group, member of International Thespian Society, teacher’s aide at religious school, frosh/soph volleyball 2 yrs (not sure if i’ll include), National Charity League 6 yrs, attended AIPAC conference, semester abroad in Israel
demographics: white female, California
thanks for your help!
Syracuse University, George Washington University, Boston University, American University
Run the Supermatch tool on the left side of this page. Then run the Net Price Calculators on each school’s web site to see if you can afford them.
^^^Also get your hands on some college guide books (Fiske is my favorite, I also like Princeton Review, Insiders Guide) from your guidance dept. or library and start reading up on schools. Try to think about specific attributes that you are looking for in a school (ex. size, location, things you want or don’t want such as Greek Life, big time sports, religious affiliation etc.)
Penn, Tufts, Johns Hopkins, American, George Washington, Emory, U. Maryland, U. Virginia
@harvardandberkeley Penn and Hopkins would be a reach for this guy and generally everyone.
Both have around a 10% overall acceptance rate, UW GPA is below average for Hopkins (enrollees have a 3.90 - admits have higher). Same for Penn (enrolled freshman highschool GPA is similar at 3.93 (so admitted is higher))
Median ACT at Hopkins is a 34 for enrolled, so admitted is probably higher. Penn sports similar test scores.

Check out Lewis and Clark in Portland and Willamette in Salem OR.
Any of the DC schools would be great! George Washington doesn’t really have the “campus feel”, but American and Georgetown certainly do. All three have top-notch International Relations programs.
Plymouth State is really really great…what major are you aiming for?
