In preparation for a transfer- Your advice, thoughts, recommendations

I am interested as well.

At my school the 1st sem is just as important as the second semester because the transcripts report only the final grade for the class

im still in high school but i will attend CCC and transfer for junior year
=(
oh my..

if you're transferring for JUNIOR year... your high school grades probably won't matter as much. the farther you get away from high school, the less it matters! so i wouldn't worry too much - just focus on excelling the next two years, and you should be fine :)

do you recommend taking sat/act after hs? I will also be applying to OOS schools

i think it depends on the schools you're applying to... each one is different, how much they use/rely on sat and act scores. plenty of people do, and it can't hurt!

ok thanx do you think sat is preferred over ACT?? Cause I want to take ACT instead of SAT....

since SAT is sort of taken by more people, i think there might be an advantage if u take it + SAT:Subject tests instead of ACT..

i would, again, check with the school - most take them equally, a few prefer SATs, but if i recall correctly, i remember my guidance counselor saying a couple might actually prefer the ACTs....

probably, you should take whichever you test better at!

Anyway, do colleges care about 2nd semester senior year grades when applying as a transfer after freshman year?

And how much do colleges care about course difficulty? E.g., if I took AP physics in high school, would they care if I took it again in college?

Right. I am in a similar scenario with the how AP Physics (AP Bio with me). Should I take more advanced classes or just get the A in the class I essentially already took...though the transferring college might dislike that...?

Right on Yale Hopeful.

How many people that transfered actually went into their freshman year of college thinking that they would transfer?

Went into? No. By Winter Break first year? Yes.

i knew i wasn't going where i wanted to go... i decided to go to a school i didn't like when i visited and really didn't want to go to, because they gave me too much money to turn down. when i sent in my decision, everyone (parents included) told me to just try for a year and then transfer. although i was really unhappy with the decision, i eventually got over it and figured i'd stay there - i never really pictured myself going through with the hassle of transferring. however, i soon realized i was far too unhappy to stay. my parents (who had never really thought i would want to transfer) were convinced that i had CONVINCED myself ahead of time that i would hate it (which was the source of many arguments during the year lol), but i know this isn't true... before i got there i really never thought i would transfer, honestly. but i am now, and i'm happy and excited :D

The Illinois Institute of Technology is a ****hole that also gives money to make up for lack of ...everything.

lol I have also heard IIT is not a good school. Fortunately, I am interested in schools like HYPS.
