In state admission

Is it easier for residents of Houston to get into Rice than applicants from other places?

No ... it's actually harder because Rice is looking for geographic diversity.

wow, sucks to be me then :(

well....kind of. I mean tons of houstonians apply- but if u stay strong you'll have a good shot. Make sure u do an interview!!!

It doesn't mean it's impossible; it just means that Houstonians will generally need higher stats than those that have geographic diversity on their side. My son was admitted ... and with scholarship money ... so definitely try!

I agree with blackeyedsusan. It is not impossible; I am from Houston and also received a scholarship. The main thing is to show LOTS of demonstrated interest. Do an interview on campus, a tour, go to the presentation before the tour, and make sure you sign in.
