In the Spirit of Halloween, Have My Chances Gone to the Grave?

As an Asian coming from Nevada, I'd like to know if my current SAT score has officially sealed the nail on the coffin for my chances for a good college?

Basics~

Unweighted GPA: 3.87
Weighted GPA: 4.58
Class Rank: 14 out of 437
SAT: 1900
Critical Reading 690/Math 610/Writing 600
ACT: (coming soon)

Extra Curriculars~

Course Work~

Junior: Marching Band, Advanced Band, AP Chem, AP Lang and Comp, AP US History, PreCalc H, Latin I,

Senior: AP Lit and Comp, AP Government, AP Bio, AP Stats, AP Latin, Student Aid (School schedule changed from 8 to 6 classes)

Schools:
Georgetown
Johns Hopkins
American U
Boston College
George Washington U
U Nevada Reno

I love the title, hopefully that creativity has been demonstrated in your app!

First off, your location is a huge plus. Nevada is a greatly underrepresented state, so that alone immediately improves your chances.

Your GPA and class rank are good enough for any of those schools, IMO. Your SATs are a little on the low side, but still probably within the 50% range of most of those schools.

Your ECs are solid, but not spectacular.

If you write a super essay, get good recs, etc. I think your chances will be.

Georgetown - reach
Johns Hopkins - reach
American U - match
Boston College - low reach/high match
George Washington U - high match
U Nevada Reno - idk, sounds like a saftey though

Please return the favor!

Thank you very much. Any other opinions out there?

You have a decent chance at all of them, except for Johns Hopkins and Georgetown. I might see you getting into 1 of them.

I liked your thread title!

Haha I love your thread title! Definitely eye-catching and very witty.

With that said, I think you should have a solid shot at all those schools, and being from NV is certainly a plus, but you might want to consider raising your SAT score by at least a hundred points. On the other hand, if your ACT score turns out to be great, then you should submit it instead of the SAT.

Also, if I’m not mistaken, I believe Georgetown actually requires you to take three SAT II subject tests… do you have scores for those?

I’m taking my SAT II’s in November so I’m really hoping that goes well.

ACT scores aren’t coming in until November. Should I attempt EA with what I got or just wait it out and for RD?

trying out EA that won’t hurt you, you can still send in new scores once they come out. but since the deadline’s…technically, tomorrow, don’t rush for it if you’re not really prepared…

I think I"m just going to go for RD.
My chances with my reach schools just seem really grim with my SAT score…
