In your opinion, how close is too close to home?

As I’ve said in other threads, I go to school 20 minutes from home, and it’s been great.

Oh wow, I didn’t notice how distance is a hudge factor. Michigan State University is my first choice, though with it being only 10 minutes from my house I’m really starting to question.

It’s all nonsense. Being 30 minutes or 30 hours away from home is not as important as going to a school that you truly enjoy. If you are happy where you’re at, you will thrive and won’t feel the need to go home that often. For example Michigan is less than a 30 minute drive from the western suburbs of Detroit, but Ann Arbor is so cool you rarely feel a need to go home on the weekends.

Me too (also in Philly, woo!) There have been stretches when I went for months without seeing my family, and times when I felt like going home for whatever reason and I could, no problem.

When you go to school near home, you are as close or as far as you want to be.
