In your opinion, Would i get accepted??

“I see, VenomBuds. It’s funny when I read your comment it was in the voice of Sheldon Coopers. ( from Big Bang Theory) You have a very close minded and quite negative attitude towards how a college does their admissions process. I hope that when March and April roll around I will be able to tell you of what I got accepted into.”

This is not called having a close mind. It’s called being realistic. Look at the common data set for standardized test scores. Ivies reject perfect SAT/perfect GPAs all the time — what makes you think they will accept someone with an SAT score lower than ~99.9% of the applicants to their school? Now, if you were a celebrity or the president’s daughter I might have a different opinion, but you don’t. And congratulations on getting into some schools — but they aren’t the ivies (which schools were they so you can check the common data set for their SATs?). The ivies have a particular standard and you seem like you don’t care about what that standard is and that you’re going to get in, disregarding the common data set completely. All I can say is good luck, and I hope you will soon lose YOUR close-mindedness.

Even if you get in, how do you plan to compete with kids with 1600 or ACT 36 academically? What is your goal? You would need good GPA for both employment and graduate school.

@T26E4 #10 And the other 3% are those with huge donating parents and URM kids with the most spectacular application outside of the test scores that you’ve ever seen. Also of any regular students that are accepted in that group I’d guarantee they had a 28-29 ACT.

While I wouldn’t say acceptance to UCLA or UCB is impossible, the numbers are significantly against you and any ivy is in no way possible. The lowest ivy in selectivity is Cornell and the percentage of students there with a 29 ACT or under is 19%. Most of these are probably 27-29, and generally to get into a school with test scores in the bottom quartile you must have some sort of hook whether its URM, legacy, recruited athlete, or you have god-like EC’s.

I do not want to argue or burst your bubble, but relying on positivity is kind of like me applying to be an astronaut and relying on positivity. If you can afford it, apply. Why not. But you are missing one of the key qualifications…kind of like me and that NASA job. (Or is it spaceX now?)

You have chances at UC Davis & USSC.

Okay guys! I feel like I should still update ya’ll on what colleges I got into. So far I got into Seton Hall, UOP, Concordia University Irvine, William Jessup and 7 other colleges I applied to since it was totally free. I got accepted into UC Merced.

This is the big one; I GOT WAITLISTED AT UC DAVIS. Now I’m shocked. I just never thought I’d be waitlisted. I never thought about it. I am also extremely grateful for it though. So many people with way better stats than mine got straight up rejected. Including a friend of mine & Davis was their first choice. Now Im currently writing the supplement for the waitlist.

In less than 21 days, I’ll know where I’ll be for the next four years! Wish me luck.

Waitlisted at UCSC ((((((((:

Now I hope you’re beginning to see just what Venom was saying.

Well, you got accepted into more than 10 colleges so far, so I’m happy for you!

Yikes, I can literally smell the holier-than-thou in this thread through my screen

Best of luck, @kirsten4624! I think your positive attitude is admirable.

Thanks guys! Im still waiting for some other decisions! I’ll know all of them by the 31st Ill let ya guys know!

As everyone says, your stats are super low. Like REALLY low. I really don’t think you have much of a chance even with killer essays. And your EC’s seem a bit typical/not impressive. But hey, u never know! surprise us

Yea your chances at the rest of your colleges is pretty low based on your current results. Best of luck though.

Good luck Kirsten! I admire your positivity and I know you will be happy anywhere you go with that attitude! Congrats on the colleges you got into!

I used to be all about ‘manifesting positivity’ and having all this hope this year. Till I got rejected from 8 schools in a row. lol… At least I got into one top tier school and that’s where I’m going. College is college. As long as you’re happy with where you are going, you will be fine. But still great to have a positive attitude even if you get results you did not want. Good luck.

YOOOO I got into UC Santa Cruz! Haha, I couldnt be happier! still waiting on some other decisions! Ill keep yall posted  & thanks everyone for the support!! God bless

Nice job! Is that where you’re inclined to go?

Yep! Well as far as I know  @TheCyclist

The irony in this thread is that the people that talked about being open minded were themselves closed minded. They say one positive thought can cancel out thousands of negative ones, good job kirsten. I honestly don’t know why you came on this forum, where you knew you’d get lambasted for your scores. And I just got back from Berkeley and they said that babysitting siblings and kids is a legitimate EC. You may have not gotten in there, but for sure the UCs did not dismiss the babysitting, which I’m sure many people did here.

Did you get into the ivies?
