A few days ago I got a 50 page magazine in the mail, from the admissions office, called IN, since it is close to the date that decisions are released is this a good sign? It doesn't make sense that they would send this to people that they have already rejected?

i think its safe to say that you got in! :) otherwiise it will be very very mean. :(
and sine its called IN--w/e it stands for--must mean exactly that.

havent got that yet...:(

byw, do you have "followup letter" printed on the "where Am I site"...under the documents sent section??

---what'd you think, munckeegirl, acceptedtocollegealready, and etc, etc, etc, ?

It's a big brochure.....it encourages you to apply. It has nothing to do with you or your application.

encourages to apply for what? fin aid? more prgrams? i thought that booklet was course catalogue (?!)

i don't have "followup letter" listed on the where am i page
thanks

This kind of crap never happened during my year. But then again we didn't have a huge increase in apps nor tuition either.

Seems like a lot of changes they are making to gauge student interest.

i had followup letters sent to me regarding my credentials. Since it's a FOLLOWUP letter they're letting you know if you have any missing items of some sort. If you ever got one then the date would be dated a while ago. Otherwise it's nothing big.

ok thanks. at least someone else got it too!

i got confued b/c they sent it after the adcom sent me an email about the missing docs. and confirmation of receipt--just bit out of chronological order (?)

did anyone receive decision letters from cmu yet?

yeah i got the magazine too...in january. i don't think it means anything since i got it after i was rejected and before i reapplied for regular decision. i honestly don't think there's any clear cut signal of being accepted or rejected unless you see it in the mail.

stoneterrain-i know it's not my place to say, but you are waayyy too obsessed with this school. stalking this site isn't going to gain you admittance, but good luck anyway.

Relax, guys......b-r-e-a-t-h-e......if things go like they have the past 2-3 years, nobody who applied RD has gotten any admit/reject letters yet, unless they are possibly a recruited athlete or some other special case....all the rest of you 'average' high achievers just have to wait.....painful as it is.

Letters should begin to arrive around the last week of March....I don't mean around the 21st - more like 28th-29th - and continue through mid- April. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason - not by school applied to, or alpha order, or even accepted first then rejected....
that means there could be some students who have less than 2 weeks to make a decision and get their deposit in by May 1.

CMU's president prefers that students are notified by mail first, so they wait 3 days after your letter is in the mail to post the decision online. If you live far enough away from Pittsburgh, it's very possible you will see a simple word - 'Accept' - toward the top right of your "Where Am I ..." page - first - traditionally, it's to the right of the College Applied to info. Your formal letter should follow soon after, though.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but all this angst and drama is not getting you an answer any quicker....just wasting time and energy better used elsewhere, eve if it's just hanging out with friends.

Last year, my son got his admission letter in mid-April...really,it was like down to the wire because I remember we had only about two weeks to appeal our financial aid package and decide. And as I recall, others waiting on this site still had not heard when we did. Notification seemed to be random with regard to the geographic location and the ultimate decision. Try to be patient!

haha i know. i'll just cool it. but im sure im not alone (?)

i got the magazine after i got rejected from scs as well.
