Inaccurate GPA Transcript

Hey everyone,

I have several classes in which I either received a failing grade or NX grade because of a situation I had in the COVID-19 pandemic. The good news is that I have made up the assignments and my updated transcript for all my classes should be 95+. The bad news is that I only managed to make up the assignments this week.

The school I want to ED is a reach school that is obviously highly competitive. The 65’s on the GPA will automatically land me in the reject pile. Since the ED deadline is in 2 days, I thought maybe go for regular decision round instead.

However, I reached out to the school’s office of admission and they replied: “Thank you for reaching out to us. We will happily accept a new transcript with your updated grades. If the new transcript will be available shortly after the deadline, you can also hold off on sending us a transcript until the new one is ready.”

Now, I am confused because should I now submit my application anyway and then update them with my GPA transcript? Even if they do patiently wait, how long can they wait before just rejecting my application? They obviously have so many applications, so they can’t wait forever, but it will probably take at least 2 weeks before my GPA transcript accurately reflects my grades. Also, I have been under the assumption I am doing regular so I haven’t even written the supplemental essays yet, but I can crank it out in 2 days.

So, what should I do? It seems it’s so rushed that it’s not worth doing ED. But at the same time, the fear of potentially missing out on the opportunity is terrifying. I will greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance!

You should apply RD. You don’t know how long it’s going to take your school to update the transcript. What if it takes a couple weeks? There is too much risk of your old transcript being sent.

Yea, I agree. That was my thought process too! I think I will stick be sticking to RD. What do you think about applying ED 2?

If your transcript is fixed by then it should be fine to do that.
