Bear with me. It's 2:43 and I've been awake since 11PMa nap gone wrong.

I'm not one with impressive stats but I got into the college of my choice (a major reach in my opinion). I'm happy but am afraid I might be inadequate, but maybe that's because I snoop around these forums a little too muchthe numbers are intimidating in comparison to students from my school. I guess it's the first time I've been surrounded by so many people that ACTUALLY CARE about college, lol. Anyhow, my stats are average/below average with the exception of ECs. I think in terms of numbers, there's nothing special about me.

Does anybody else feel that way? And for what college? How did you find out already? (ED/ED1/ED2/EA/SCEA/Rolling)

You got accepted. Who cares if someone else got a better score than you on the SAT/ACT? You're going to the school of your dreams. You should be happy.

I think sneezy is concerned that he/she got accepted because of some sort of hook and might not be able to compete academically once enrolled. This has been discussed on other threads, especially in regard to AA.

OTOH, you must have something going for you if you were admitted. You might be in the lower half of the admitted class, but you can still work hard and avail yourself of any academic assistance available at your college. NU is pretty rigorous. Good Luck!

It isn't a question of being able to compete or not. The admissions standards are way higher than the academic rigor. They would have to be. The adcoms themselves say that 80% of the people that they deny would be able to thrive at the university if they were accepted. The reason they deny most people is simply that they don't have room.

On the other hand, it is must be a little worrisome to be accepted to Harvard with a 1400 when you know that 25% of your fellow students have 1580+, the average is 1490, and the median is even higher. Some URM's with relatively low scores do have trouble at these colleges which is something that the minority groups and the colleges have addressed.

I'm sure that you will do fine. For every 1400 who works hard, there is probably a 1600 who spends freshman year mainly drunk. The personal characteristics do matter.
