Yeah I’m not sure if they really were just projections the whole time or not. It does explain a lot, though. And yup I’m going to see it again this week for sure.

I saw it today. I thought it was AMAZING! The funny thing is I’m about to go see it again at 7 with a friend. Lol. It’s that good (and I want to have a better understanding).

One of my favorite movies. I think Nolan is using inception on everybody who sees it though. Everybody who I’ve talked to about the movie wants to see it again.

Inception was amaaaaaazing!! I’m not just saying that cos I’ve loved Leonardo DiCaprio since I was 7 lol. It was mind-blowing.

Yeah, JGL is cute. 500 Days of Summer is one of my favorite movies. Titanic is no. 1, Inception is a new favorite!!

Titanic sucks ass.

I think David Edelstein put it aptly when he said…

“I truly have no idea what so many people are raving about. Its as if someone went into their heads while they were sleeping and planted the idea that Inception is a visionary masterpiece andhold on Whoa! I think I get it. The movie is a metaphor for the power of delusional hypea metaphor for itself”

^I haven’t watched it yet, but that made me lol.

Edit:
On a random note - it has now reached #3 on the IMDb Top 250.

^That is a total joke.

There is no way it is the number 3 movie of all time.

I wish it had ended with DiCaprio throwing away the top.

Its overrated, perhaps because compared to the other movies this year, its a breath of fresh air. But all on its own it is a mere above average. Personally, I’m more of an independent movie person- There Will be Blood is one of my favourites.

Taking that list seriously results in an overwhelming desire to shoot oneself.

I think that David Edelstein is way off the mark.

Anyhow, I watched it for the second time last night and definitely made significantly more connections, but I didn’t get a more satisfying grasp of the movie as a whole.

A film should engage the heart and the mind. For me the movie was a tad too elaborate and cerebral, but I suppose its a matter of opinion. It was above average, but by no means worthy of the hype that surrounds it. It seems Mr. Edelstein and I are the only ones who share this view.

No, there are quite a few critics who agree with you. I think, however, that some of this is attributable to over-compensation for the hype (i.e., it’s supposed to be so good that my thinking that it is good must be a product of the hype, so I’ll compensate and say that it’s not all that).

^Not really. I think that many people think its good because it was preceded by mediocre and in some cases very poor films. I suppose after watching Knight and Day and the Sorcerer’s stone, Inception must seem like a masterpiece to the majority of critics and audiences.

^ I think that the relative-quality factor plays a much less significant role in evaluation than people often consider it to.

^I don’t. I stand by what I said in my previous post- people will often judge something in comparision, especially critics, who I imagine must have been bored with the barrage of cliched movies that came before Inception.

Some people will like the movie, and some people won’t. People have different preferences. That’s all there is to it.

^ That can be said of anything; it’s not a very meaningful insight. :)

Well, I don’t find gedion9324’s point to be very meaningful. It’s basically “I’m the one here who didn’t find this movie to be all that great. Let me tell you people why you think this movie is good.”
