My daughter is an incoming Freshman at UCLA for the Fall of 2019. Can incoming Freshman take UCLA online courses over the summer before they actually start school?
Yes. And also regular courses as well (if she wants to get a dorm earlier, or commute if you are close enough).
They can, but you can just as easily take courses at a community college this summer for waaaaaaaay less money.
One difference is that grades earned at a school outside of the UC system (and the CSU system is not considered as part of the UC system) are not factored into the UCLA GPA. So if you get a couple of A’s at the community college, it won’t help their GPA.
But I think getting a class or two out of the way could be a good idea
I agree with just going the CCC route - Especially for breadth/GE courses and courses that will articulate to a class for subject credit.
