Because of summer schedule conflicts, I signed up for orientation #7 (the last one), and it just dawned on me that because we choose classes at orientation, I will probably get all of the bad, leftover classes that no one wants.

Is this true? Should I be worried? I don’t want to spend the first half of my freshman year with teachers I hate and classes I don’t like

No, they don’t let all the classes fill up in the first few orientations, they keep that into account and open classes throughout summer for later orientations. You will have the same chance for a class as someone who goes to the first orientation.

The only conflict that you might have when signing up for classes is choosing your Writing Seminar (WR 100). Many of the topics fill up quickly in the earlier orientations. You will definitely get a class, but it just might not be the seminar you wanted. Not to worry, though. I ended up in a class on English writers and it ended up being really interesting!

They do keep many sections open for the big intro classes, although you might not get the exact time you want.
