Can someone who is a current student at Rose tell me a bit about the room assignments? Specifically, what are the room numbers of those 4 bed rooms in the basement of the freshman dorm (so I'll know if I've been assigned to one of them...)? And, do they assign rooms on a first come, first served basis?- meaning if my deposit is sent in early, am I more likely to be assigned to a 2 bed room?
Thanks.

ok, first off, we don't have dorms, we have resident halls. Dorm is such a crude word. Sorry, Rose has a very strong community and some of us really hate that word. Heck, I've gone to conferences where you'd be killed if you said that word. Ok, now that I said that, it's first come first serve. There are many resident halls for freshman. None that I can think of have only 4 rooms in the basement. Sophmores have a basement level in one freshman resident hall. Deming has a basement, but it's a floor, a lot more than 4 rooms. I highly suggest trying to get BSB(has the best looking freshman girls normally). It fills up the fastest. Deming has no girls, but has really nice hallways, plus it's like 10 seconds from EVERYTHING. like, it's the closest to everything possible. I live there, it's nice besides the lack of girls. Mees has girls, but the people who live there are really weird, plus they are far away from a lot. Personally, I would go for BSB or Deming. Deming is the best all guy dorm IMO. BSB is the best co-ed dorm. If you're a girl, then defentally go for BSB. Oh, wait, I just figured out your question. I'm not erasing all my previous stuff though. heh. This year there are no triples. Only doubles and singles. It depends on how many freshman come though. We have a new resident hall so that's why doubles are the biggest. Just send in money early and you'll be happy.

Thanks for the reply... That info helps me alot.... I've already sent in my $100 deposit, in fact I did that back in the fall when I was accepted... I knew that sending that in "started the housing process" according to the letter I recieved at the time.. so I thought it was first come first served, but am glad to have that confirmed.... When I was at R-H last summer, they showed us some 4-bed (should have put a dash, to avoid the confusion...) rooms, which I was hoping I would not be assigned to, so what you wrote was good news... Also, thanks for the heads up on the word "dorms"..

SuperJad - What would you say the Single/Double ratio is? I'm pretty interesting in getting myself a single, and I'm wondering what my chances'll be as a freshman.

When I visited Rose, I asked the Single/Double question, as I really want a room to myself. I got the response that Rose feels that having a roommate is an important college experience, and that there are very few singles available.

heh, actually, I have a single. It varies with year to year, this was the first year they've really had them thanks to the new resident hall. I'd expect them to be availiable next year as well. ALL SINGLES ARE IN DEMING. the housing form has a check mark if you want a single (and willing to pay extra), but they are ALL IN DEMING. For freshman at least and subject to change next year, but highly doubtfull. As for chances. Deming level 1 and Deming level 2 have singles. there are about 12-14 singles and they are first come first serve. And that whole roomate thing is funny. Sure, once you come to Rose, everyone on your hall will be like, what?! too bad you have a single! and then 3 months later they will all be like Oh man! You're so freaking lucky to have a single! So yea, it's possible to get a single as a frosh, just send in your stuff fast and request it. Just remember, Deming has no girls, if that's something you're looking for.

Route 34 the four person bedrooms you are referring to are most likely the rooms in the basement of BSB (the hall where I currently live). Those rooms go to the unfortunate sophemores who "win" the lottery and don't get into New Res (soon to be named Percopo Hall). One guy on my floor (BSB2, the best floor) had a single to start off the year, and i believe BSB1 also has one single. Don't let SuperJad fool you into thinking that you have to be in Deming to be close to everything. BSB is just as close plus it has females.

Housing assignments are done through a form you'll recieve at some point. Its one page with four questions. You are assigned off of that form and the return of that form is the first come first serve part.

If you have any more questions about rose feel free to im me on aim. My sn is Moohahaha7 .

Thanks for the additional info, Maxwellatrose, Looking forward to August....

BSB definately sounds good! How are those new sophomore rooms?? I plan on attending Rose in the fall and when I took my SWE tour they looked pretty awesome! Do you guys have jobs there at Rose? Just curious what you guys think a good job would be there! I don't think I'm a good tour leader as I am not a huge talker! So, yeah what is the best work there?!
