INCOMPLETE application notice! (=death threat).

I just got an incomplete application notice through email. I need help here. I don't know what is missing.

The email I got said I need to check by going to Cornell self-service and log in with my account. So I did.

Here are the items displayed.

Common Application Checked
Required Cornell Supplement Checked

External Exams (O Level, A Level etc) NOT Checked

SAT Scores Checked

Mathematics (Any level) Checked
Science (Any) Checked
Literature, HIstory, or Social Studies Not Checked
Other Checked</list>

TOEFL/TWE Waived

I have no idea what is missing. Obviously, unchecked SAT II are the ones I did not take, but I still met the requirement for SAT II. (I took Math IIC, Chem, Physics, and Korean). I did not take TOEFL but, that is waived. The only thing that bothers me is that "external exams." What are they? What am I supposed to do?

I don't see the external exam section in my ED self-service (I don't think it's different from the RD). I've never even heard of those, strange.

"English or Writing Not Checked"
Writing is required, whether in the form of SAT1 New or SAT2 Writing if you took the SAT1 Old.

If he took the new SAT I, the writing wouldn't be checked in the English or Writing section. The writing score would be with the Highest Math and Highest Critical Reading/ Verbal section.

You are right. I took the NEW SAT and the SAT score section shows my writing score.

i just got an email from the college of aap saying they didnt get my portfolio, was i suppose to send it to them or to "the supplement and all other materials" address?

ultimatemath, I am in exactly the same predicament as you. Are you an international student? Because I am, and perhaps that's why they expect the external exams (whatever that may be) to be sent in. However, I've studied in the US the last 9 years, so I don't have them. Hopefully I can just call them and sort it out. I bet if you do the same you'll find a solution to your problem.

I think that is it, polo1A.

I am an international also. I studied in US for past 4 years.

The "External exams" seem to be something foreign/international (isn't A-level test taken in UK?)

On the same note, Is there a way to check financial aid stuff? I did not send in some of the "international forms." I hope that would not be a problem.

Call them and ask?

I dont know whether I should butt in. I am an international student and we have external exam after class 10(or grade 10 as you call them in US). I had sent attested copy of mark sheet and hence mine is ticked against this. In fact, for me everything is ticked. Though I am not an expert, I feel that if all are ticked, you should be okay. If not, just give them a call and find out what exactly is missing over and above what is not ticked; since it is not an international call and you are not in +8 hrs time zone, it is easy to give a call unlike us.

I'm in the same boat. I'm also an international in the US for 8 years and my external exams isn't checked either. I plan on calling them soon to fix this.

hey sm97,

i am also an international student. but there is no external exam column for me!! im sure my counsellor sent my class 10 maeksheet. what do i do??

Sachit: I think that you must have taken CBSE or some other equivalent exam. Have your mark sheet attested from the school and send the same to Cornell giving your cornell PIN reference. I received a nice email from Mark D. Spencer,Director, Engineering Admissions informing that even if you have not completed the form, there is no problem. Did you also receive any such email yesterday? As per that letter if anything is incomplete, you can still complete it. I would suggest you to hurry up anyway without delaying further. Do not leave it to the school. Some times they may not clearly mention that it is external exam.

sm 97:

I am sure my counsellor attached the marksheet.

yes, i have taken the CBSE class 10 exam. Im not saying that the external exam column is not ticked, there is NO external exam column!!
Could they have taken me as a domestic apllicant since i have a Permanent Residency of US and have given a US address??

Yes, Sachit. Green card holders are domestic. (which I am not)

Problem solved. I just called them.

This girl in my class just neglected to send in her SATs. I hope she just doesn't send them. I really don't like her. I think she will be going to U. of Buffalo. I was so happy when she said she got a lot of scholarships from them. I was like "yay! good for you!" but was really thinking, 'thank God you won't be in my hair next year!'

Is that mean? :p

My "External Exams" box was also unchecked for about a week or so, but now it has the Waived symbol and my app has been forwarded to CAS for review :S

ultimatemath: But i go to school in India!!!
