I just began my senior year, and it has been stressful to say the least. It seems like there are an infinite amount of things to worry about. I've always been an extremely hardworking student with lofty goals. I really want to go to Stern at NYU and major in business administration. I have a 3.9 GPA and I participate in various clubs. In my free time, I like to read and practice photography. This year my schedule is AP Calc AB, AP Physics B, H Econ/AP US Gov, AH French III, H English IV, Visual Art. Needless to say, AP Calc and AP Physics are the killers. I'm thinking about dropping AP Physics for H Physics and was wondering if it would be a wise decision. I've always been one of the students who have to study like heck for an "A," and Physics is taking double the time to learn the material for me. In the past, I've taken several H/AH classes and AP Chem and AP US History, but did not take the AP tests because I moved to a new state and the teacher there advised me not to. It's my last year of high school, and I would like some free time every once in a while. I just can't decide whether to stick it out or not and I feel as if I'm on the verge of a break down.

Absolutely, drop down to honors physics, especially as you are not planning on being a STEM major. Your GPA is too important to jeopardize with classes that are not “make or break” on applications to colleges you are interested in. If the colleges you are applying to do not specifically ask for 4 years of science, then you may want to consider dropping Physics altogether, and doing something else you love or give your self a study period.

^^I agree with above! I would even consider dropping to Regular Physics if you feel the need to have a 4th year of science. The fall of senior year is a bit overwhelming as it is and extra stress is not worth it…

I definitely agree with the above posters, if you can you should drop down to honors or even regular (or even a study period). Your GPA is very important for college, and furthermore, you’ll be adding even more stress on yourself when you actually start applying for college. You definitely don’t want to get burnt out or overstressed now! Good luck with everything – applying for college is a very exciting time.

Calc is much more important, drop to Honors physics if you want to keep your sanity. Senior year, applying to college, EC’s/work is a pretty tough combo, and you need some free time to relax. You don’t wanna burn yourself out.
