Independent AP Study

I really knownothing about this, can someone inform me? What books would one get? How would one sign up for the AP tests?

go to the SAT and ACT Tests & Test Preparation Forum... and specify what subjects you are interested in studying...

what do you guys think about independant studies for AP? do you think it's worth all the effort(grade wise)?

my school doesn't offer any AP Classes :/ so i'm gonna have to study for them independantly

and does anyone know the AP test dates? i want to take my tests in the very early fall/late summer, when do you guys think i'll get my results if i take it then? (i'll be a senior)

The APs are given only once per year in the first two weeks of May.

Independently studying for APs have little to do with academics. It wouldn't really benefit you until you enter college where you can use your AP scores to get out of some courses. But if it is mentioned on apps, I guess it would show that you are motivated. I've done it before. The best way to go about it would be to get a textbook and review book. Then in March inquire your school about signing up for the test ($82 each). Since your school doesn't offer AP classes, you probably wouldn't be able to take the test there but they can arrange for you to take the test at a nearby school that does.

crap. only once per year. crap. crap. crap.

i'm applying to a lot of british universities though and i do need them for that. crap crap crap.

the thing is that i'm not going to be here(...america) junior year, i'm going on a year abroad. :/ crap crap crap. ehhh. i guess i'll study real hard there? yea...crap.

are AP tests offered abroad? what's the deal with that? like test centers or should i just tell my school there to request the ____ AP test?

what should one do if the ap self study they're doing is not offered at their high school?

ie: i want to do ap self study art history, ap art history is not offered at my school.
